Acrylic adhesive optimised for maximum productivity

3M has added to its range of structural acrylic adhesives with a new version for applications requiring maximum versatility and productivity. Scotch-Weld DP805 two part, 1:1 mix ratio adhesive offers a three to five minute working life and then builds strength rapidly to give a handling time of only seven minutes. Suitable for a use on a multitude of substrates, including metals, ceramics, wood and most plastics, DP805 is highly viscous and suitable for application to vertical surfaces without sagging. An oil-tolerant formulation means it adheres well to metal surfaces without the need for specialist preparation.

Low cost alternative to squeeze bottles and hand syringes

The new Ultra 870 dispenser makes it easy to apply controlled beads of adhesives and sealants, fill cavities with epoxy, and apply other assembly fluids "by eye" when a timed shot is not required. Typical applications include solvent bonding, sealing housings with beads of RTV silicone, and potting electronic components with epoxy. Unlike squeeze bottles, hand syringes and other manual applicators, the Ultra 870 uses controlled air pressure to apply material at a uniform rate without straining or repetitive hand motions.

Chemists look to higher viscosities

Chemence research and development chemists have solved a production problem for a large manufacturer in the electronics industry. The company bonds rubber gaskets to aluminium on a production line with very short cycle times. It was using RiteLok SF100 cyanoacrylate adhesive and asked Chemence to develop a higher viscosity material for an application where controlled squeeze out and the ability to work on inclined surfaces without dripping are important. Additionally, the assembled parts had to undergo rigorous environmental tests before approval.

High performance epoxy adhesive

Master Bond has introduced a new single component, high performance epoxy adhesive called EP13. This compound requires no mixing and has an unlimited working life at room temperature. EP13 has excellent bond strength to similar and dissimilar substrates and superior dimensional stability. It has a service operating temperature range of -60degF to +450degF.

Small in size but big in value

The new Jubilee Pocket Pack holds a useful selection of quality Jubilee hose clips. The small plastic reusable containers fit easily into toolboxes and are supplied strapped in packs of ten. Six individual compartments hold as many as 16 assorted Jubilee worm drive hose clips in sizes ranging from 13mm to 40mm and clips can be supplied in either mild steel zinc plated or stainless steel options.

Adhesive resists exposure to repeated sterilisation

Master Bond has developed a new two component heat cured epoxy adhesive called EP45HTMed. This compound is durable, tough and resistant to exposure to thermal shock and many chemicals. It can withstand long term exposure form â€“80degF to 500degF and has a glass transition temperature of greater than 185degC. Adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics, wood, vulcanized rubber and many plastics is excellent. The cured system is a superb electrical insulator.
