The benefits of the piercing nut system

Substantial installation cost savings and fastening quality are but two of the many advantages of the PIAS piercing nut system compared with the more traditional welded nuts. Available from Arnold and Shinjo, it is used extensively in the automotive OEM market, as well as for domestic appliances and other sheet metal industries, where the PIAS piercing nut system offers a number of benefits.

The benefits of the piercing nut system

The PIAS self piercing nut systems offers ease of installation (no pre-pierced panels are required), high cost-effectiveness, accessibility into smaller components with reduced edge distances and strength of the fastening system, particularly in thin sheet and pre-coated panels. The PIAS piercing nut is capable of providing an installed cost of only one quarter of that of a typical weld nut.

PIAS is a complete fastening system, comprising nut and feed system, where up to 30 nuts can be installed simultaneously into a panel. The system is equally efficient when used as part of the progression press operation or in the assembly area, where it lends itself perfectly to use in robotic cells. Equally, PIAS piercing nuts can be installed in lower volume applications using simple, stand alone installation units. They are the ideal choice for all sheet metal applications from high volume through to lower usage customers.
