Making light work of adhesives

Light-curing adhesives offer processing and performance benefits for high-speed assembly processes. They provide high-bond strength to a wide variety of substrates and promise high performance with guaranteed complete cure. In short, they present manufacturers with the ability to improve the robustness, output and performance of their bonding operations.

Making light work of adhesives

Ultra violet adhesives, with their speed of cure and the ability to 'cure on demand', are increasingly being used in high-volume assembly processes. Depending on the product and cure system, cure is usually achieved within a few seconds, resulting in a fast throughput and reduced work-in-progress levels. And, in the final analysis, that means real cost savings for the production line.

The 'cure on demand' ability means that parts can be positioned with the adhesive in place, with the curing only taking place when the components are exposed to light, once the operator is satisfied the alignment is correct.
