Making the bond with Benelli motorbikes

One of the Araldite range of structural adhesive solutions from Huntsman Advanced Materials is being used to bond critical parts on the latest model from Italian motorbike manufacturers, Benelli. Araldite 2015 was type-tested by Benelli Q.J. S.r.l. and then included in the production of the Benelli Tre 1130k, a new multipurpose motorbike designed to appeal to both road and off-road users.

Glass furniture maker gets clear bonding lines

Lincos, a supplier of glass and mirror fittings to furniture manufacturers, is using RiteLok UV curing adhesives for high strength 'glass-to-glass' and 'glass-to-metal' bonding. As well as invisible bond lines, the adhesives also offer improved product quality and rapid curing times. Used for coating, bonding, encapsulating, laminating and potting, UV (ultra violet) curing adhesives are high performance, single component products that polymerise when exposed to ultra-violet light. They are invisible, instant and high strength, giving a rapid but controlled cure at room temperature.

Steel nuts stand up to salt spray

A groundbreaking finishing process developed by Profil UK and applied to its standard range of steel nuts has resulted in the fasteners being able to withstand more than 1000 hours' automotive testing without red rust (RR) appearing. This represents a significant move forward for the automotive industry as a typical zinc electroplated zinc and yellow passivation steel surface withstands salt spray for just 96 hours without RR.

Adhesive tape shows its metal

A special tape developed to seal and join metallic products such as aluminium, steel and other metals has been launched by tesa UK. Designated Tesa 4664 and new to the UK, the flexible tape is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including the assembly and sealing of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as for splicing insulating materials.

Harness clamps increase transit safety

Norfolk-based motor sport technology specialist BERU F1 systems has substantial experience in the delivery of robust wring solutions to the F1 industry. The company designs, develops and manufactures wiring components, sensors, stress measurement systems and composite parts. Its parts are used by every F1 team and in many other motorsport formulas. In its latest generation of wiring harnesses for F1 and endurance vehicles BERU F1 Systems is enhancing the performance and reliability of connectors in the critical fuel tank environment by potting them in an advanced epoxy compound from 3M.

New approach for tension springs

Industrial Gas Springs has launched a new range of tension springs. Fixed force units which typically have a rod and an inner and outer cylinder to achieve the desired axial force, they are not equipped with a release valve or damping. The fully pressurised cylinder design provides a tension force by means of an inner body construction which works in reverse to that of a typical compression gas spring.

Applied Spring Technology has added a heavy duty Twin spring assembly to its range of springs and spring assemblies. The twin spring assembly has a stainless steel chassis and spindles for good corrosion resistance, and the stainless steel springs are mounted on smooth running ABS drums.
