Miniature indirect force sensor

The new measuring pin from Kistler, with its small diameter of 8mm and weight of only 34g, is ideal for protecting a wide range of structures from overload damage. Fitting into an 8mm hole in the structure, the new piezoelectric strain sensor can be easily installed in any position to monitor the forces in a structure to warn of impending failure due to overload conditions. The small size and weight allows retro-fitting to existing installations without introducing measurement error.

Lightweight inclinometer offers accuracy and stability

Sensors UK’s new inclinometer weighs only 25grams but still has the high accuracy and long term stability of the whole SEIKA range. The NB3 inclinometer has a measuring range of ±10º and is supplied either with an analogue DC or a pulse width modulated output.  The integrated sensor electronics require only minimal power and are in conjunction with the capacitive primary transformer characterized by high accuracy and long-term stability.

Rockwell Automation has expanded its Allen-Bradley ControlLogix family of controllers to enable faster system performance and support the growing use of smart devices in manufacturing and industrial operations. The new ControlLogix 5580 controller provides up to 45 percent more application capacity and includes an embedded 1-gigabyte Ethernet port to support high-performance communications, I/O and applications with up to 256 axes of motion.
