This is certainly the case for Loic Bruni, the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials Downhill World Champion. Loic and his French team have been using Variohm EuroSensor VLP and ELPM linear potentiometers to measure suspension-fork and frame shock absorber travel for more than three years.

Igus has introduced a universal plain bearing material that helps prevent the build-up of electrostatic charges. Being electrically conductive, any electrostatic charge is safely discharged avoiding sparking, and like all other iglidur materials, the bearings are self-lubricating and require no maintenance. The ESD-compatible iglidur F2 plain bearings are suitable for use in wet conditions, in addition to numerous applications including material handling, automation and electronics manufacturing.

Due to variations in pressure or temperature, the volume of air inside the equipment can expand or contract and in the absence of a venting port, the structure could crack and collapse. Breathers are therefore essential for the structural integrity of small enclosures and instruments. However, the small size of some equipment makes the use of conventional breathers impracticable. Brownell has added a “mini” category to its range of breathers, designed with a standard M3 metric thread for fitting that can be screwed in place or mounted using a locking nut.

300mNm torque from a 10mm brushed motor

Faulhaber has launched a new generation of metal brush commutated motors, the 1024SR series, with a diameter of 10mm. In combination with a gearhead, its offers output torque of 300mNm. Thanks to a superior torque/speed ratio (flat slope) the motor can handle varying loads at reduced speed variations, thus granting smooth control. This performance is achieved with very low noise and vibration levels.
