Danfoss supports wind power innovation

Based in the north of Germany, Elegant Energy is a small, but enormously innovative and capable company motivated by the belief that every human being has the right to clean and limitless energy. In support of this belief the company has developed Marlene, a new vertical axis wind turbine that is versatile, efficient, compact and cost effective. Central to Marlene’s design and operation is a high performance NX-series grid converter from Danfoss Drives.

BCN3D acquires 3D printing cloud platform AstroPrint

BCN3D has acquired AstroPrint, a 3D printing software company known for its sophisticated cloud solutions that allow users to manage printers with ease and efficiency. Both companies entered into an acquisition agreement last April and completed the transaction in July. This investment provides BCN3D with the opportunity to not only release a new cloud platform, but to also have an experienced software team dedicated to the future development of BCN3D’s 3D printing solutions.

ABB modernises Swiss paper machine as model for energy efficiency

ABB has helped Model Group, a packaging manufacturer headquartered in Switzerland, modernise one of its key paper machines with energy-efficient motors and state-of-the-art variable speed drives (VSDs). The result is increased productivity and reliability, together with a reduction in energy consumption of up to 900,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) a year – equivalent to 200 four-person Swiss households, with a projected payback in less than five years.
