Weld immune inductives improve performance and longevity

Contrinex’s weld-immune inductive proximity sensors incorporate three features that the company says enables them to offer the best performance and longevity, whilst being able to withstand high-intensity magnetic fields. The first is ‘chip-immunity’ which enables the sensor to continue to work reliably even when its front face has collected weld-spatter.

The second is impact and abrasion resistance. The majority of Contrinex’s Weld-immune sensors are also part of its robust EXTREME 700 Series, which are said to offer exceptional robustness and long sensing distances. They feature a housing machined from a single piece of stainless steel with a thick front face which provides extraordinary abrasion resistance. The sensor’s unique technology gives it unmatched abilities to resist shock and impact damage – This is typically demonstrated by showing a sensor survive being used to hammer nails into a wooden block. Another benefit of the 700 series sensors is true Factor 1 sensing, which can sense steel and aluminium targets equally effectively at up to 8mm.

The final feature is the ACTIVSTONE ceramic coating which provides high levels of durability from both heat and abrasion. It reduces the accumulation of weld-spatter and can withstand cleaning with wire brushes.

Combining exceptional durability in harsh environments with extended working life, Contrinex’s enhanced weld-immune sensor range is a highly affordable, risk-free option for systems integrators and equipment designers in diverse industries, including automotive, aerospace, electronics and white goods.
