WEBER-HYDRAULIK strengthens its expertise in larger-dimension hydraulic cylinders

WEBER-HYDRAULIK has expanded its development and manufacturing expertise in the field of hydraulic cylinders and now also produces large-dimension cylinders for high-performance applications.

Whilst production was originally designed for internal diameters of up to 160 mm, larger sizes have been progressively developed, industrialised and transferred to series production since 2018. The company currently manufactures hydraulic cylinders with internal diameters of up to 300 mm. Depending on the design and application, the possible external diameters are significantly larger. In this way, WEBER-HYDRAULIK is responding to the increasing demands of sophisticated applications and markets.

The expansion of cylinder dimensions is the result of a development and qualification process spanning several years. Since around 2018, WEBER-HYDRAULIK has been working systematically to design and test larger hydraulic cylinders and bring them into series production. The starting point was established applications in the medium size range, from which the portfolio was gradually expanded into higher performance and size classes.

Today, the company manufactures, amongst other things, large-dimension ballast cylinders and high-performance support cylinders for demanding applications. The range is complemented by further variants of bolt-pulling cylinders, which are designed for a variety of operational requirements and underline the company's growing expertise in the field of hydraulic solutions in larger dimensions.

The production of larger-sized hydraulic cylinders places greater demands on design and manufacturing. These include, amongst other things, a tailored selection of materials, specifically designed sealing concepts and advanced testing procedures.

Furthermore, the design and validation of these cylinders require more complex simulation and calculation processes. In production, too, tailored processes and enhanced component handling are necessary to ensure the required quality and process reliability.

Integration into the product portfolio

By expanding the range of dimensions, WEBER-HYDRAULIK is responding to the increasing demands in various fields of application, particularly in the area of heavy machinery and high-load systems. Larger cylinder diameters enable higher forces and thus broaden the range of applications for hydraulic solutions.

This development underlines the company's commitment, as a development and technology partner, to delivering bespoke solutions even within demanding size ranges. At the same time, internal processes, manufacturing capacities and testing methods have been adapted accordingly to ensure quality and operational reliability, even with larger components.

"The expansion into larger cylinder dimensions is a logical step in the further development of our manufacturing expertise. This gradual expansion has enabled us to build up specific expertise in a targeted manner and now to produce even sophisticated cylinders in larger sizes cost-effectively and to the required quality standards. At the same time, we can reliably support complex projects as a development partner," says Michael Ungar, Segment Manager for Cranes & Construction at WEBER-HYDRAULIK.
