WDS Components has strengthened its stock availability of standard parts and components by upgrading its on-site production machinery.
The Leeds company has taken on a new CNC lathe that will enable increased production throughput to provide customers with faster product availability. The new state-of-the-art production line joins two additional CNC machines recently added to WDS’ UK manufacturing capability.
The new Miyano BNE51-MSY Fixed head CNC lathe increases WDS’ on-site production capacity of large diameter components, such as swing bolts. Three-axis superimposed machining means the machine can manufacture completed products without the need for changeover. Combined with faster cycle times, this has enabled WDS to raise its throughput to increase stock availability, as well as same-day fulfilment of large OEM orders.
The new machine carries an increased tool capacity and a much faster set-up procedure. This has removed the need for a staggered production planning and the more flexible machine set-up has removed production run delays, maximising WDS’ lights-out manufacturing capability. This has increased stock availability across WDS’ entire product range.
Ensuring its on-site manufacturing capability includes the latest, state-of-the-art production machinery is part of WDS’ drive to support its stock guarantee programme. WDS’ offer confirms same-day shipping even for large order quantities. If the total amount ordered can’t be supplied same-day, WDS will provide a 10% price discount on the remaining units.
The company’s commitment to British manufacturing includes a highly trained, in-house engineering team. For WDS, made in Britain helps ensure full product availability and also guarantees high quality manufacture.
“The new CNC lathes can machine workpieces to extremely tight tolerances with very high repeatability. Our machinists are extremely experienced and most of our products are developed by our in-house R&D engineers, which ensures the highest product quality,” says Adam Broughton, production manager at WDS.
