Tapeswitch has launched its new HaloProtect system, providing rapid-response collision protection for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) to help avoid equipment damage and minimise operator risk.
Combining Tapeswitch's signature ribbon switch technology with durable urethane bumpers and a failsafe control system, HaloProtect is engineered to stop scissor lifts and similar vehicles immediately upon contact, helping operators avoid damage to sensitive structures or machinery, while also helping prevent potential injury during maintenance activities.
HaloProtect is suitable for any sector in which scissor lifts and powered access equipment are deployed. These include aviation, warehousing, materials handling, industrial machinery maintenance, construction, and datacentres, where the risk of collision, entrapment or equipment impact is a safety and cost concern.
The system includes replaceable covers for long-term durability and is designed for quick fitting and configuration in operational environments. It meets all relevant safety and machinery standards including ISO 13856-3 and ISO 13849-1, and has been developed in line with industry expectations for safe access equipment.
Established in 1956, Tapeswitch specialises in the design and manufacture of pressure-sensitive safety technologies used in industrial, transport and automation environments. Its product portfolio includes ribbon switches, sensing edges, safety bumpers, safety mats and bespoke systems, all manufactured in the UK and distributed globally.
Tapeswitch Business Development Manager Blake Shields said: "HaloProtect not only addresses impact protection, but also contributes to safer working practices by supporting secondary guarding functions that help prevent overhead entrapment incidents.
"Many safety products only tackle part of the problem. HaloProtect brings together collision prevention, operator safeguarding and compliance into a single, easy-to-install system. For MRO teams and rental fleets alike, it offers a smarter way to reduce damage, downtime, and risk."
