Seeing your name in lights, thanks to KUKA robots
If you've ever wanted to see your name in lights, then a fun installation involving KUKA robots in London's Trafalgar Square was specially designed to provide an illuminating experience.
>The stunning spectacle comprised robots borrowed from an Audi car production plant and was created for the London Design Festival by digital product designers Weisshaar and Kram. Visitors to the capital's most famous square or members of the public anywhere in the world were able to send short text messages via the website, which transmitted the information to the team of eight KUKA robots equipped with LED lights. The resulting 'light paintings' were captured using high-def video equipment and published on the website and social networks.
>Jeff Nowill, KUKA's UK general sales manager, comments: "It was a fantastic installation that was almost certainly one of the highlights of the festival and KUKA is thrilled that its robots were used for this clever and highly creative project."
