Sapa is strengthening its range of advanced aluminium solutions with the acquisition of UK-based Holden Aluminium Technologies Ltd. Sapa has taken over the operation with effect from April 1.
Holden's aluminium extrusion fabrication plant is located in Bromyard, England, and employs about 60 people. The site specializes in the supply of formed and machined components for segments including construction, transport and general engineering.
The Bromyard plant will become part of Sapa's extrusion unit in the UK, joining sister operations in Birtley, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Redditch, Rotherham and Tibshelf. "Adding the Holden operation is part of Sapa's strategic objective to become the leading supplier of value-adding aluminium solutions in the UK," says vice president Alain Couturier, who leads Sapa's UK unit.
"Holden have established themselves at the cutting edge of forming technology, and they have taken many customer ideas from concept to production," says Couturier. "They have a strong reputation in the market and we are extremely pleased to be able to move closer toward our desire to provide customers in the UK with the most comprehensive 'total supply solution' in the extrusion market."
Holden, a privately owned company, has been in business for over fifty years and has long associations with Bromyard. "We are confident that this move will allow us to grow strongly under the Sapa umbrella," says Richard Williams, managing director of Holden Aluminium Technologies Ltd.
