Rollon showcases field proven curved motion innovation at Advanced Factories Expo

Rollon has completed a project for a high-tech company in Europe that specialises in the design and production of electrical wires and connectors. The required system was developed by Nadella, now part of the Rollon Group.

The customer needed a customised curvilinear handling system to transport coils of electric wires through nine processing stations within its factory, while maintaining a cycle time of under two seconds between each stage.

As Spanish manufacturers focus on automating production, Rollon is set to showcase one of its most space-efficient and high-performance automation solutions at this year's Advanced Factories expo and congress in Barcelona.

Visitors to the Rollon stand will discover how the company's Nadella AXNRQ curvilinear system can transform complex handling applications - including the recent success story with the European high-tech manufacturer of electric wire and connector systems.

AXNR refers to the modular curvilinear guide system, which is flexible and can be designed in any custom shape to fit specific paths and applications. The circular-style setup used for the project was AXNRQ.

As well as strict speed criteria, the project also had two other critical requirements: sufficient load capacity to handle coils of varying weights (8, 10, or 12 kg), and the ability to be installed on a 10-meter-long support structure already present inside the manufacturing facility.

Rollon Nadella engineers proposed the AXNRQ circular system in ring configuration due to its ability to meet the key operational demands of the project, such as offering high load capacity with robust guide rollers, optimized acceleration and speed, and a space efficient design.

Solutions for Spain's automotive, electronics and industrial sectors

The project demonstrates the kind of intelligent, space-conscious automation which is increasingly required in modern production environments - particularly across Spain's automotive, electronics and industrial sectors.

"Many factories in Spain operate in legacy buildings or work with highly specialised production lines," said Yohan Thyrion, Senior Sales Manager at Rollon. "Our AXNRQ system offers a way to automate without compromise - combining high-speed, high-precision motion with a compact, fully configurable footprint. It's a smart solution for factories looking to upgrade automation without a full line redesign.

"With the continuous global rise of automated production systems, manufacturing companies face the challenge of integrating automation into their factories to maintain a competitive edge. Automation not only enhances efficiency but also improves flexibility, allowing plants to adapt quickly to new product designs and changing production demands.

"Moreover, automation reduces human error and ensures consistent product quality, making it a crucial investment for modern manufacturing facilities. Whether a company is modernising an existing factory or building new capabilities from the ground up, Rollon has the solutions."

Tailored linear motion solutions

As well as the Nadella AXNR circular system, visitors to Rollon's stand at Advanced Factories will also discover H-Bot, a highly versatile gantry system designed for applications requiring minimal footprint and maximum efficiency. Additionally, Rollon's extensive range of linear and telescopic guides, linear actuators, and rotary systems will be on display, demonstrating the company's commitment to optimising automation processes.

Rodrigo Ruiz, Sales Manager at Rollon, will be presenting about Rollon's new solutions and myRollon. Over the years, Rollon has embraced digital transformation to provide a streamlined digital experience for customers and empower the engineering teams. The company has invested strategically in key technologies and tools, launching myRollon, an intuitive, easy-to-use digital working platform designed to streamline the selection and configuration of linear and rotary motion solutions for customers and engineers.
