With the new CJ2M-MD211 and CJ2M-MD212 pulse I/O modules, versatile position control for up to four axes can now be added easily and cost effectively to any current model in Omron's CJ2M series of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The new modules provide position control options that are far more powerful and versatile than those offered by low-end PLCs, but far less costly than high-end position control solutions.
>Users of the new modules can select from the full range of CJ2M CPUs, which are available with program capacities from 5K steps to 60K steps, as the basis of their design. They can then add up to two pulse I/O modules, which, in conjunction with the position control commands built into the CJ2M CPU, will allow direct control of up to four axes.
>To help users achieve short machine cycle times, the pulse I/O modules offer high-speed start up. In particular, a new interrupt feeding instruction eliminates delays related to interrupt response time and the handling of multiple interrupts, thereby allowing high-accuracy feeding to be readily achieved. Positioning accuracy is also enhanced thanks to a pulse control cycle of 1 ms and an output frequency of up to 100 kpps, which ensure smooth control.
>As well as the linear acceleration and deceleration curves typically offered by basic position control systems, the new pulse I/O modules support S-curve acceleration and deceleration.
>To complement its new pulse I/O modules, Omron provides powerful yet intuitive programming, monitoring and debugging facilities. Dedicated instructions plus a library of position control function blocks greatly reduce programming effort, while the enhanced data tracing functions in the CJ2M PLC and Omron's CX-Programmer V9 software allow detailed analysis of position control behaviour.
