Phoenix Contact expands collaboration with Wölfel Winds Systems

Phoenix Contact is continuing to expand its collaboration with Wölfel Winds Systems, providing comprehensive monitoring of all critical points of a wind turbine generator with the new AXL F CMS 2 IEPE 1F IO module for monitoring the drive train, gearbox, and main bearing.

Together, Phoenix Contact and Wölfel Winds Systems offer monitoring solutions for the foundation and tower of wind turbine generators. This enables loads and damage to the tower and foundation to be identified at an early stage. Constant monitoring can significantly extend the service life of these systems.

Whether structural health monitoring for the rotor blade or the foundation, fleet monitoring is becoming increasingly important in the wind industry. By taking an overall view of the wind farm, weak points are specifically identified and proactive measures are taken in good time before any damage occurs. The comprehensive monitoring is based on 24/7 online monitoring and immediate determination of relevant structural KPIs, such as the progress of damage to the foundation and the remaining nominal service life. Immediate notification allows the operator to respond directly to structural anomalies.
