The presentation will provide an in-depth exploration of the security features within PROFINET technology. As a widely adopted industrial communication standard, PROFINET offers numerous advantages that contribute to its popularity across various industrial applications.

In today's era of inevitable digitalisation in manufacturing, ensuring cybersecurity in this domain is crucial. Cyberattacks pose threats to the Availability, Integrity, and Confidentiality of production systems. Beyond financial losses, manufacturing companies also risk damage to their reputation and brand image.

Angadh's presentation will look at what is PROFINET technology and how the communication works, and will introduce PROFINET Security class 1, class 2 and class 3. He will also look at the role of ISA/IEC 62443 in securing OT networks, and discuss blocking versus logging, two pillars of network security under an IEC 62443 framework. Finally, he will look at the importance of planning PROFINET networks for more secure and reliable PROFINET networks.
