Modular and stackable recording system
If you want a compact and easy to use measurement and recording system, where it’s simple to add channels and where the expansion modules all snap together to form a single handy unit, then look no further than the Kyowa EDX-10A from Sensors UK.
In its base form (pictured) with one control unit and one measuring unit, you have measurement of four channels, with simple connection to a PC over USB. But stack additional units onto this base system and you can extend the capability to 16 channels.
The very act of stacking the units makes the connections between the various units, so all necessary measuring functions are packed into the smallest possible system – no need for any messy connecting cables. And when we say small, we’re talking about units that measure just 84mm in width. The EDX-10A control unit is joined in the range by the EDX-11A – which is capable of measuring load, pressure, displacement other parameters by using a strain gauge transducer – and EDX-12A which is capable of measuring voltages.
The high performance system provides simultaneous all-channel sampling at 20kHz.
In measurement systems with a single measuring unit, power is supplied from the PC through the USB interface, although with more units stacked a separate power supply is required.
A feature of the system is its easy-to-use software, DCS-100A, which is included with the product as standard. The software ensures smooth operation in displaying various graphs and numerical values on the monitor. It also enables graphic and numerical windows to be freely laid out on the screen. Operation is a simple three step process: set the channel conditions, set the measuring conditions, and then take the measurement. That’s all there is to it.
