LG Motion safeguards the future with apprenticeship programme

In order to support the continued growth of its business in an increasingly complex technical automation environment, LG Motion is investing in trainees and apprentices, with Ben Kiefer (pictured with MD Gary Livingstone) being the latest apprentice to join the company.

Ben is taking up an Advanced Electro-Mechanical course which will include training in wiring, controls, programming, the integration of components in more complex configurations. Much of this training will also recognise the application of Industry 4.0 concepts. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the company may offer the opportunity to continue further education through HNC/HND of degree should the individual so wish to continue his personal development.

LG Motion MD Gary Livingstone sees the apprenticeship scheme as vital in order to maintain an influx of new young engineers who are enthusiastic and have potential to develop. As a leading designer and manufacturer of highly sophisticated electro-mechanical motion control systems, LG Motion’s devices and systems are found in a wide range of industrial and scientific applications and often involve complex designs and configurations.

The video offers a viewpoint from a current apprentice nearing the end of his course. Calan Kennard has just completed a 2 year level 3 BCoT to achieve a BTEC level 3 in mechanical engineering and describes on this short video how he worked on a project for a college assignment to build a vertically mounted panel saw able to work on both an X and Y axis.
