Marine motor specialist Rotor, part of the WEG Group, will present its latest marine electrification technologies at SMM Hamburg 2026, taking place from 1 to 4 September in Hamburg, Germany.

From Hall 6, Stand 618, the company will demonstrate how its specialist marine motors, alongside WEG's wider motor and drive portfolio are supporting the industry's shift towards more electrified, efficient and space-conscious vessel designs.

SMM Hamburg remains one of the most important global events for the maritime sector, attracting more than 2,200 exhibitors and around 49,000 visitors. Against this backdrop, Rotor will showcase selected products from its RN motor range alongside popular WEG motors and drives, reflecting the Group's combined capability across specialist marine and wider industrial applications.

On display will be the 23RN355M, an IP23 motor specifically designed for propulsion and thruster applications. The design focuses on dependable operation in controlled machine spaces where airflow and cooling conditions are managed, offering stable performance for continuous or intermittent duty marine environments where efficiency and reliability are critical.

In addition, Rotor will feature the 6RN132M04E36V brake motor, a customised system integrating brake, encoder and dedicated cooling system. Developed for applications requiring controlled motion and precise stopping performance, it is suited to deck equipment such as winches, cranes and handling systems where accuracy and operational safety are essential.

Also on display will be the W23 Sync water cooled motor alongside two W20 motors, complementing Rotor's specialist marine range with additional WEG motor technologies.

Designed specifically for propulsion and thruster applications, the W23 Sync water cooled motor combines permanent magnet technology with an advanced water-jacket cooling system to deliver high power density in a compact footprint, reducing the space required on board. Its permanent magnet rotor minimises electrical losses while maintaining outstanding efficiency, even at low speeds, providing precise torque control across the entire operating range. The result is a reliable, energy-efficient propulsion solution that supports optimal vessel performance while helping to reduce operating costs.

The W20 series complements the range combining compact design with high power density. Offering outputs from 0.12 to 355 kW and IP55 protection against dust and water ingress, makes it suitable for a wide range of onboard auxiliary duties. Their inclusion reflects how Rotor's application-specific marine engineering sits within the wider WEG portfolio, enabling customers to access both specialist and standardised motor solutions through a single group structure.

Complementing the motor portfolio is WEG's CFW900 variable frequency drive, perfect for marine auxiliary applications, including pumps, fans, compressors, HVAC systems and other onboard equipment. Designed to control both induction and permanent magnet motors, the CFW900 combines precise speed and torque control with advanced energy-saving functions to reduce energy consumption while improving process efficiency and reliability. Its robust design, high overload capability, integrated connectivity and intelligent thermal management ensure dependable operation in demanding marine environments, making it a flexible solution for modern vessels.

For propulsion and thruster applications, WEG will also highlight its CFW11M and CFW11W modular drive platforms. Installed within electrical cabinets, the CFW11M provides an air-cooled solution for standard installations, while the CFW11W uses water cooling to minimise heat dissipation inside the cabinet, enabling more compact switchboard designs and better use of onboard space. Delivering high-performance motor control, flexible system architecture and dependable operation, the CFW11M/W platform provides the precision, efficiency and scalability required for propulsion systems across a wide range of vessel types, supporting both new-build and retrofit projects.
