Cost-effective emergency stop safety mechanism for cable management

The fully-featured igus PPDS condition monitoring system is usually only implemented as a safety feature for cable management applications in large scale projects, such as offshore cranes. The cutting edge tool is able to monitor the condition of the energy chain system, alert the maintenance engineer via email or SMS and even shut the system down if necessary.

Cost-effective emergency stop safety mechanism for cable management

>For igus' customers, PPDS has been proven as an invaluable condition monitoring system. Now the energy chain specialist has developed a basic version, which can be used in smaller industrial applications.

>Unlike the original PPDS, the PPDS Basic version monitors push/pull forces to provide a simple emergency stop mechanism that is suitable for energy chains in long travel applications of up to 100 metres.

>The technical components of the PPDS Basic consist of a PPF sensor that is attached to the moving end of the fixation bracket, a force sensor cable, the PPDS Easy 2.0 monitoring unit, a power supply cable and control cable. All of this comes in a space saving design that is, above all, very cost-effective.
