Compact safety coupling for high disengagement torques

The SKB safety coupling from JAKOB Antriebstechnik delivers high power density, precise disengagement mechanism and versatile applications in modern mechanical engineering.

Compact safety coupling for high disengagement torques

Modern, innovative mechanical engineering aims for reduced external dimensions and higher performance potential in components. Increasingly compact drive elements with maximum power density are in demand. Safety aspects, such as collision protection in the event of a machine crash, are also gaining importance due to increasing automation and dynamic operation.

With the SKB series, JAKOB Antriebstechnik offers a safety coupling for overload limitation and collision protection for indirect drives that meets these requirements. The high user benefits of the SKB series result from the interplay of various details. These include high disengagement torques, a compact design, easy installation using a clamping ring hub, high concentricity, low bearing load, and easy adjustment of the disengagement torque.

The use of high-strength tempered steel with surface hardening or plasma coating of the functional surfaces enables very high disengagement torques. The particularly robust ball cage is crucial in the event of disengagement shocks at high speeds. The grease-lubricated release mechanism is further protected against heavy soiling or washing out by a labyrinth seal. The SKB series is also equipped with clamping ring hubs, which allow for significantly larger bore and shaft diameters compared to conical hubs.

Versatile combination options

The SKB safety coupling can be expanded with metal bellows or elastomer coupling attachments as needed. JAKOB offers a wide selection of hub designs and compensating elements in various sizes. A sophisticated modular system enables cost-effective production in batch sizes and short delivery times.
