Chrome-free, zinc passive finish

In line with the EU's recent RoHS Directive, BigHead Bonding Fasteners has now standardised on a new chrome-free zinc-passive finish for the mild steel range of its famous BigHead bonding fasteners, at no extra charge. This type of finish is now mandatory for plated metal parts used in the automotive industry, with other industries rapidly following suit. "The new plating actually outperforms the 'old' type," says BigHead MD Ken Stanley, "and our customers have no problem with the very slight colour change. One thing that it hasn't affected, of course, is the very high torque and tensile strength provided by our unique welding process."
