Advanced assembly, forming and fabrication assets from Sertec’s recently closed springs and wire forms division have been given a new lease of life at Dorset-based William Hughes. When the assets became available, engineering director at William Hughes, Emma Burgon, spotted an opportunity to not only bolster her company’s existing capabilities, but also introduce new ones.

Trifast invests to increase its European manufacturing capacity

International fastener specialist TR VIC spa, part of the Trifast plc group of companies, has further invested at its manufacturing site in central Italy, increasing its capacity to meet the growing European white goods market. The company says it has experienced unprecedented demand, which has been fuelled by an increase in consumer driven home improvements during Covid that shows no signs of abating.

Siemens joins forces with LG Energy Solution to improve battery production

Siemens and battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution (LGES) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase cooperation in the field of battery manufacturing, particularly the digitialisation of production process. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies plan to take steps to promote the process of battery manufacturing intelligence at LGES production facilities worldwide.

Flame-retardant Henkel adhesives used on industry-first spandrel panels

Speedpanel, part of the Speedclad group of businesses, has developed a range of insulated composite spandrel panels that provide both extremely quick building encapsulation and fire-retardant properties in accordance with the latest regulations. Notably, the company worked in close liaison with adhesive expert Henkel to identify the optimum flame-retardant bonding product for the panels. In a construction market still reeling from the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, the resulting Speedpanel A2 Glass and Speedpanel A2 Aluminium carry an independently certified fire rating of A2-s1 d0, creating a huge USP for the company and opening up vast market potential in both new build and replacement façade projects.
