Monitoring the status of energy chains and cables with one module

Monitoring the status of energy chains and cables with one module

Predictive maintenance plays a key role in Industry 4.0 and the factory of tomorrow. Supporting this future, Igus has added more sensors and monitoring modules to its smart plastics family for more intelligence – warning of potential failure in good time before unplanned and costly downtimes occur. The new isense EC.RC (e-chain Run Control) monitors the operating status of the energy chains, especially in guide troughs used on long travel applications. Sensors measure and check the position of the energy chain. In this way, the machine is prevented from continuing to operate when mechanical faults occur; meaning that total loss of the chain or an electrical shutdown are a thing of the past.

Combating condensation in enclosure installations

Combating condensation in enclosure installations

The recipe for condensation is simple: water vapour and fluctuating temperatures. In all but the most controlled of environments this means that electrical installations are at risk of water damage caused by condensation forming inside an enclosure. Of course, with proper planning and design it’s possible to protect your connections, as Chris Lloyd of Spelsberg explains.

Drag chains feature innovative divider system

Drag chains feature innovative divider system

To meet the heterogeneous demands of applications in the field of Industry 4.0, Kabelschlepp Metool has developed the new Master drag chains LE60/LE80 with the innovative divider system TS3. The reduced wall thickness of the divider system lets customers benefit from more space in the interior: compared to the previous cable carrier, this achieves a space saving of 50% in the vertical and 37.5% in the horizontal. At the same time, the new Master drag chains are easy to open and fill, for time-saving harnessing from all sides.
