Laser Components offers a high-performance narrow linewidth single frequency laser at either 1550nm or 1064nm. This laser source can be supplied as a butterfly package (PLANEX) which consists of a gain chip and a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) that includes a Bragg grating, or as an OEM version (ORION).

Galician coast guard uses Flir thermal cameras to fight illegal fishing

Flir PT Series cameras were used in a surveillance project to detect and monitor illegal fishing and poaching activities along the Spanish Galician coast. The Flir thermal imaging cameras combined with maritime video analytics from Gradiant were ideal for spotting illegal vessels on a 24/7 basis and at a long range. The vastness of the Galician coastline and the multitude of fishing and farming activities call for a more automated surveillance approach.

Fanuc UK to host dedicated automation event for injection moulders

Fanuc UK is set to open its doors to the British moulding market with a dedicated automation open house at the end of September. The event will be held at its UK headquarters in Antsy Park, Coventry, on 29 September to 1 October, with visitors encouraged to sign-up to specific days to accommodate social distancing measures while on site. More Covid-19 regulations may be in effect at the event in government guidelines and restrictions develop.

RS Components joins forces with VEX Robotics to set summer STEM coding challenge

RS Components has paired up with educational robotics systems provider VEX Robotics to launch its latest STEM initiative for 8- to 16-year olds. The online challenge tasks students with writing code to enable a virtual robot to deliver ingredients to a production line in a virtual crisp factory. The virtual robot requires students to code its movement, and sensors help it to navigate around the factory floor and to collect and release containers for the ingredients to make the crisps.
