Round displays open up design possibilities

Relec introduces round TFT and projected capacitive (PCAP) displays from FutureLabs, suitable for outdoor and harsh environments as well as innovative commercial applications. The 9.5in round FLR-0959MLV0PCFA1 from FutureLabs has an active display area of 240mm. Resolution is 1540 x 1540 with 1000 CD/M2 brightness. The round display is suitable for harsh environments and outdoor use, for example in high ambient lighting areas in marine sonar and radar systems. Its wide operating temperature range of -30 to +85°C makes it suitable for use in automotive and industrial display panels.

TÃœV SÃœD UK launches machinery UKCA compliance audit service

TÜV SÜD has launched a Machinery UKCA Audit service which will support end-users to verify their equipment complies with new UK regulatory requirements. The Machinery UKCA Audit service is a pre-delivery inspection that complements factory acceptance tests (FATs). This enables the purchaser to determine if equipment is built and operating in accordance with UKCA requirements before they make a final payment. Any non-compliance issues identified at this stage are still the responsibility of the manufacturer and can be rectified before machinery is delivered, rather than trying to fix issues at an end-user’s site - saving time and money.

Global battery manufacturer GS Yuasa, which has a production plant in Ebbw Vale, is creating 105 new jobs and protecting a further 360 positions with support from Welsh Government funding of up to £2.5m. This forms part of a multi-million pound investment by the Japanese based corporation.
