Yaskawa and Phoenix Contact agree on a partnership for the PLCnext Technology open automation platform

Yaskawa and Phoenix Contact agree on a partnership for the PLCnext Technology open automation platform

The shared goal of Yaskawa, an industrial robotics and mechatronics manufacturer, and Phoenix Contact, a manufacturer of automation solutions, is to drive forward the transition away from proprietary solutions towards an open and future-proof ecosystem for industrial automation. Yaskawa, a leading company in this industry, has decided to use PLCnext Technology. As a part of this framework, Phoenix Contact will license its PLCnext runtime environment to Yaskawa and has agreed upon joint further development. Yaskawa plans to use the PLCnext runtime system in the fields of Motion Controls and Robotics, initially in Europe and the USA.

Cognex image-based barcode readers in Flensburger brewery

Cognex image-based barcode readers in Flensburger brewery"s logistics centre

Aging handheld laser scanners are considered outdated technology – so when the forklift drivers load trucks at the Flensburger brewery with filled kegs or beer crates, a Cognex barcode reader mounted on the mast recognises the pallet label and scans the barcode. This not only saves time, but enhances safety in congested forklift and truck traffic, and has proven its worth since the technology was installed.

Thermopile detectors from Laser Components

Thermopile detectors from Laser Components

Laser Components has a long-established relationship with Dexter Research Centre, a world leading manufacturer of thermopile sensors. Thermopile detectors are passive radiation sensing devices requiring no bias or cooling and generate an output voltage in the range of micro to millivolts. The spectral absorption of these detectors is flat from the UV to the far infrared with wavelength sensitivity only limited by the choice of the optical element which seals the TO can.
