PositekÂ´s PIPS technology makes custom modification straightforward

Positek recently completed the design and supply of a custom modified version of its PIPS equipped P103 series short stroke linear position sensor for a wastegate valve position feedback task on an advanced automotive turbocharger. As part of a motorised control system that regulates and optimises peak engine performance, the compact pushrod style P103 is mounted near the direct flow hot engine exhaust gases where its specially designed thermal shield allows use at elevated temperatures of up to 160â°C at the inductive sensing element whilst the conditioning electronics remain at around 125â°C.

HQW Precision"s bearings chosen for world"s largest mid-infrared telescope

Construction is underway in Chile to build the largest optical/mid-infrared telescope in the world. The Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) is scheduled to begin operation in 2025 and will be able to gather more information than ever before, vastly expanding our knowledge of the Universe. Bearing specialist, HQW Precision GmbH, is supplying super precision ZKLN bearings to the project, which will be used to accurately adjust the 800 mirrors positioned within the telescope.

Repairing optical projector wheels with Opti-tec 5001 epoxy

Event lighting company LucyNation Lighting is now using Opti-tec 5001 Optical Epoxy Adhesive, supplied by Intertronics, to repair surface fractures and cracks in oil wheels. The material has helped seal in the oil wheels’ coloured oils, so LucyNation Lighting can use them past their normal lifespan.

Micro-Epsilon makes multi million Euro investment in new production centre

Precision sensor manufacturer Micro-Epsilon is investing more than 10 million Euros in a production centre for micro-mechatronics at its headquarters in Germany. In the future, sensors developed for semiconductor and aerospace industry will be manufactured at the production centre, enabling a significant increase in its production volumes for the semiconductor industry over the coming years. Completion of the new centre is planned for spring 2021.
