Igus awarded Single Pair Ethernet Network Pioneer Member

Igus has received a collaboration award as a Pioneer member of the SPE Industrial Partner Network. The organisation was founded by specialist plug manufacturer Harting in 2019 along with six other members. To be at the forefront of research in this technology, Igus joined the organisation shortly after as a partner for applying SPE to energy cables.

Inductive sensors used to check hose assemblies

A manufacturer of water heaters trusts Contrinex to quickly and reliably test stainless-steel-braided hydraulic hoses at the final stage of manufacture. Before the over-pressure test is applied, a system that uses several Contrinex inductive sensors checks each hose assembly to ensure that the correct mechanical parts have been fitted. Applying high pressure to an incomplete assembly could result in catastrophic failure, damaging test equipment and risk of operator injury.

Abbey cuts fluid costs with Rocol

Abbey Tool and Gauge has invested in cutting fluid from Rocol. Taking up the reasoning behind switching its fluid provider, Abbey Tool and Gauge Director, Mr Iain Reid says: “At first, we were a little sceptical when Rocol came in to see us because they said they could run our oil consumption at 2% - and we were running at somewhere between 6 and 8%. Alistair and I thought long and hard about it, and we filled two machines with the product. We ran the two machines for six weeks - and we were delighted.”

Reliance apprentices shortlisted to compete for Nanosat Challenge Fund

Reliance Precision is delighted that its third- and fourth-year apprentices have been chosen to compete for part of a £600,000 Challenge Fund in LaunchUK’s Nanosat Design Competition. The competition challenges young people to design a nanosat (a small satellite with a mass of between 1 kg and 10 kg) capable of being sent into space to support the UK’s climate change and decarbonisation efforts.

Stadler Rail selects NSK condition monitoring subsidiary B&K Vibro

Brüel and Kjær Vibro (B&K Vibro), part of the NSK Group, has signed a long-term agreement with Stadler Rail to install its state-of-the-art VCM-3 condition monitoring system (CMS) on 606 rail carriages for the Berlin Underground (U-Bahn). The VCM-3 CMS will serve to optimise maintenance schedules, maintain uptime and reduce operating costs.
