Beckhoff Automation has launched the new ED series EtherCAT Terminals, providing machine builders and control engineers with a modernised I/O solution that combines faster installation, simplified diagnostics and seamless compatibility with existing EtherCAT systems.
The upgraded IP20 terminals build on more than two decades of EtherCAT Terminal development, helping users improve efficiency while protecting existing investments.
Available across the EtherCAT Terminal portfolio, the ED series introduces a redesigned housing, tool-free push-in connection technology and app-based diagnostics via an integrated DataMatrix code (DMC). The new terminals remain fully compatible with previous EtherCAT Terminal generations, enabling straightforward upgrades without requiring changes to existing control architectures.
The ED series has been developed to simplify installation, commissioning and maintenance. Faster wiring and easier diagnostics help reduce downtime and improve system availability, while integrated traceability features support quality assurance processes and streamline spare parts management.

Since their introduction in 2003, Beckhoff's EtherCAT Terminals have become a widely adopted solution for industrial automation applications worldwide. The new ED series continues this development by delivering lower overall system costs without compromising functionality or performance.
