Armaloy TDC coated linear rail and ballscrews from Matara for high wear resistance

When motion equipment is utilised in harsh environments, it must be of resilient design and made from highly durable materials. Matara UK, a specialist in automation, pneumatics, and linear motion products, provides customers with Armoloy TDC coated linear rails and ballscrews to ensure maximum longevity in demanding applications and locations.

Matara linear rails and ballscrews utilise top-grade materials and undergo rigorous heat treatment and grinding processes, guaranteeing high-quality products. For added protection, and where standard materials fall short, these products are now offered with an Armoloy TDC coating. This hard (78Rc), thin, dense chromium coating features a micro-nodular surface texture, providing corrosion protection equivalent to 440 series stainless steel.

The nodular finish of the coating minimises the surface area of the rails and ballscrews in contact with other surfaces, significantly reducing friction for smoother movement over rolling surfaces, while also extending wear life by nearly 50% compared to a typical hard chrome coating. Additionally, the nodular finish retains smaller amounts of industrial lubricants for longer periods, further lowering friction and contributing to a cleaner work environment.

With the Armoloy TDC coating, Matara linear rails and ballscrews exhibit improved resistance to chemicals, detergents and weld spatter. They possess anti-galling, spalling, and fretting properties and can withstand a wide range of temperatures.

The application of this innovative coating is carried out through a proprietary process that ensures a precise 2.5 - 5 microns even deposit, which does not affect the geometry, weight, or balance of the linear rails and ballscrews, nor alter their metallurgical structure. 100% coverage is achieved with absolute adhesion, meaning the coating will not chip, flake, or peel, and a satin silver finish free of rack marks is guaranteed.

Matara linear rails and ballscrews with Armoloy TDC coating can be utilised across most industries but are particularly well-suited for customers operating in corrosive environments, such as battery plants and marine applications, as well as those who perform regular washdowns, such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and food processing plants. The coating is USDA-approved and FDA-compliant, as well as compliant with EC 1935/2004 for food contact.

With over 29 years of experience in the linear motion industry, Matara has a large stock of linear motion control automation components in the UK, including precision ground and rolled ballscrews, power lead screws, and linear guides and rails, while also offering cost-effective, bespoke linear motion control solutions. Matara is part of Rubix, Europe's largest supplier of industrial maintenance, repair, and overhaul products and services.
