Alwayse Ball Unit Solutions makes significant investment in UK manufacturing capacity

As part of its ongoing investment in equipment and people at its Aston manufacturing facility, the leading designer and manufacturer of ball transfer units has upgraded its CNC section with a new Mills CNC lathe. The new machine will play a pivotal role in improving the production quality, efficiency and reliability of its portfolio of machined units.

This includes its heavy-duty 800 series - which is used throughout a variety of challenging material handling applications, such as the air cargo and construction industry - and the mini unit series, which is used extensively within robotics and machine building.

In addition, Alwayse has substantially invested in its metal presswork and assembly capabilities. Three power presses have been transitioned from the company's assembly area to the press section to make way for two new HARE presses which are used for pierce and mark assembly applications.

The new presses have enabled the team to reduce setting times and bring tool changeovers down from approximately one hour to just 15 minutes. The use of light guards on the new HARE presses has also helped improve operator ergonomics while increasing throughput.
