Unlike conventional linear actuators (such as standard Acme screws), which depend on external systems (clutches, limit switches, or motor reversal) to change direction, the Self Reversing Screw design integrates the reversal mechanism directly into the screw and nut assembly. This innovation removes bulky, failure prone auxiliary elements and simplifies the entire system.
The Self Reversing Screw works via a reversing nut (or blade carriage) that travels along the screw and automatically reverses direction upon reaching a defined travel range. This purely mechanical solution delivers precise direction changes without interrupting drive or requiring external control signals.
For demanding winding applications such as optical fibres, wire ropes, hoses and textiles, where even layering and tension control are critical, the Self Reversing Screw offers distinct advantages:
