Many oils and fluids are subject to contamination by condensation and water. The various hygroscopic characteristics and adsorptions properties of oils and fluids requires the use of efficient filtration.

Absorbing water from hydroscopic oils

The use of in-line filtration is a common practice to remove both free and dissolved water. With the use of physical filtration and desiccant drying, very effective contamination prevention can be achieved of these oils and fluids.

With the application and use of desiccant drying protection, residual levels of 10 ppm can be achieved for free and dissolved water.

This helps the protection of hydroscopic oils and fluids which can suffer from emulsification and loss of oil and fluid properties at values of 100ppm. A typical application is the use of preventing heat transfer blocking caused by the freezing of free and dissolved water.
