A fast overhead crane makeover
The longstanding expert knowledge of KABELSCHLEPP Metool in the field of cable carriers for cranes is currently paying off in France. In several project steps, the existing cable carriers on the overhead cranes are being replaced with hybrid cable carriers of type MC0650 from the M series.

These are perfectly up to the task of the tough ambient conditions in the metalworking industry, due to their quick and easy installation and the low maintenance requirements, among other things.
According to Philippe Connesson, responsible for Technical Sales North-East and Sales Manager France at TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP, the customer's main incentive for this technology change were the long service life of the new hybrid cable carriers and that they do not require any maintenance. All that is required is an occasional visual inspection, whereas the old cable reel system required regular maintenance.
"The customer was immediately interested in these aspects," reports Philippe Connesson. "They were also convinced by our customer service and our quality products that can withstand the tough ambient conditions in the metalworking industry and are easy to handle."
Customised hybrid carrier solutions
Hybrid cable carriers of type MC0650 RS with aluminium stays from the M series by KABELSCHLEPP Metool are used for this project. Since the start of the project, removal of the existing systems and installation of the new technology have been the responsibility of ACTEMIUM Levage, a specialist firm for maintenance and refurbishment of crane systems with headquarters in Hericourt, France.
The RS aluminium stays are suitable for light to medium loads and are customisable in 1-mm increments up to an inner width of 800 mm. They can be installed with a simple wrench and allow for extremely fast opening and closing of the cable carriers because they can be easily released on the outside and inside with a 90 degree twist. The robust link plate design not only makes the sidebands particularly sturdy, but also enables very easy assembly with the easy-to-install locking bolts.
Other benefits are offered by the encapsulated, dirt-resistant stroke system and the 2-disc principle of the cable carriers that minimises link wear to extend the service life.
